Terms of Service
Plain language. No hidden traps. Read it. It is short.
Using this site
By using quantumthreads.it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
These terms cover the website and any services we operate through it. Real project work is governed by a separate written agreement between you and Quantum Threads. If anything in this site contradicts that project agreement, the project agreement wins for that project only.
Who can use the site
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract in your country of residence. If you are using the site on behalf of a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that company to these terms.
The site is intended for business users. We may refuse or terminate access if we reasonably believe you are using it for unlawful purposes.
What this site offers
This site is a marketing and communication surface for our engineering services. It includes information about our services and indicative pricing, a contact form to start a project conversation, a blog with technical and business writing, a portfolio of past projects, and a link to our public GitHub activity.
Nothing on this site is a binding offer or a guarantee of service. Real project agreements are made in writing before any work begins.
Acceptable use
You can browse the site, read the content, and submit the contact form for legitimate business inquiries.
You must not attempt to access our backend systems without authorisation, use automated tools to scrape or flood the site, submit false information through the contact form, upload files containing malware or that you do not have the right to share, reverse-engineer or redistribute our proprietary content or code, or circumvent our security controls.
We rate-limit the site so a single source cannot overwhelm it. Repeated abuse escalates to longer blocks.
How we work together on a project
When we agree to build something for you, a separate project agreement covers the scope, timeline, pricing, deliverables, and how changes are handled. That document is the binding one.
The site terms on this page describe how we work in general and how this website operates. They are not the contract for any specific project.
Deposits and payment schedule
For each project, the project agreement sets out the total price and how it is paid. As a general rule:
- ▸We ask for 30% of the agreed total before we begin work. This covers the time we spend on planning, architecture, and the first slice of implementation.
- ▸The remaining 70% is split across the milestones defined in your project agreement.
We accept the payment methods listed in your project agreement. We do not store your payment card details on our servers. Card details are handled by our payment provider under their own security controls.
Cancellations and refunds
If you need to cancel a project, here is how the deposit is handled:
- ▸Within 2 weeks of starting and before we have delivered any work, we refund the 30% deposit in full.
- ▸After 2 weeks, we keep 20% of the 30% deposit to cover the time and materials we have already started. The remaining 80% is refunded to you within 14 days.
- ▸If you cancel after we have delivered part of the project, we work out a fair number together, based on what was delivered, what was left, and the disruption to our schedule. The 20%-of-30% cancellation fee still applies on top of any work that was already completed and accepted.
Refund processing times depend on your payment provider. We initiate refunds within 14 days of agreeing the amount.
How long we keep payment records
We never store your payment card details on our servers. Card details are handled by our payment provider under their own security controls.
We keep transaction records (the fact that a payment happened, the amount, and the date) for as long as needed for our accounting and tax obligations, then we delete them. We keep no record of your card number, expiry, or CVV at any point.
Your project, your credits, your call
Once you have paid for a project in full, the project is yours. Specifically:
- ▸You receive the source code, the configuration, the documentation, and any design or content assets we produced for you.
- ▸You can change, remove, or replace any credit, byline, attribution, or branding reference to Quantum Threads that appears in the project. That includes a "built by Quantum Threads" link in the footer, an author byline in the code, a credit on an About page, or any other reference we put in.
- ▸You can hand the project to any developer, host, or platform at any time. There are no proprietary frameworks we hold the keys to.
- ▸We will never claim ownership of your project or hold your files hostage.
We may feature your project in our portfolio unless you ask us not to. If you would rather we did not, just tell us and we will not.
Intellectual property on this site
All content on this site, including text, design, code, graphics, and brand assets, is owned by Quantum Threads unless otherwise noted.
You may share links to our content and quote short excerpts with attribution. You may not reproduce whole pages, copy our design system, or use our brand assets without written permission.
No warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available." We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every detail is current.
Marketing copy on the site, value propositions, FAQ entries, and section titles are descriptive of how we generally work. They are not warranties or guarantees for any specific project. The project agreement is the only binding document for a specific engagement.
Our responsibility to you
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable rules, our total responsibility to you for any claim arising out of your use of this site will not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD 100).
We are not responsible for indirect or consequential damages such as lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, or the cost of substitute services. Where applicable rules do not allow a limit like this, the limit is whatever the rules allow.
Your responsibility to us
You agree to cover us if your misuse of the site, your breach of these terms, or your violation of someone else's rights causes us a loss.
Events outside our control
We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform an obligation under these terms caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including internet or hosting outages, denial-of-service attacks, regulatory action, natural disasters, war, or pandemic.
External links
We link to third-party sites such as GitHub and our social profiles. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content or their practices. Links are provided for convenience, not as endorsement.
If something goes wrong
Before anything escalates, email [email protected] with a short description of the issue and the outcome you are seeking. A real person will read it. We will try to resolve the issue informally within 30 days. Most things are resolved at this stage.
If we cannot settle it informally, we will work with you to find a fair next step. We will not suddenly drag anyone into a process they did not see coming.
If one part of these terms does not apply
If a part of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that part is enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the rest of the terms remain in full effect.
The whole picture
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Quantum Threads about your use of the site. They replace any prior version.
Changes to these terms
We will update the date at the top when we change these terms. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the new terms. We will not make changes that retroactively harm you without notice.
Questions
If something in these terms is unclear, email [email protected]. We will explain it in plain language.
